DAUGHTER'S OF SEREVI

This year a new team is being launched that's set to take the world's biggest brand - All Blacks? Pah, losers - into the next stratosphere. Yes, the famous Sons of Serevi are launching a women's social sevens' side, imaginatively called the Daughters of Serevi!

For the initiated, the Sons of Serevi are the ultimate sevens side in the world and are also rubbish. We play in tournaments across the UK and generally get stuffed by all and sundry, but we have a laugh. Unlike other sevens' sides, tight five players are more than welcome and speed, skill and any rugby playing ability aren't anywhere on our list of requirements. The same kind of ethos will apply to the women's side and if we happen to win the occasional game then awesome!

Initially, we're hoping to enter two tournaments in 2008, the Church Sevens in west London in May and the Solstice Sevens - aka the Glastonbury of rugby - in Nottingham in June. The team shirts are being sponsored by www.rucked.com and the cost for each tournament is dependent on travel, but travel and entry usually comes to about Ł15. At the moment, we're trying to get some kind of level of interest so if any of you think you'd be up for entering a couple of tournaments in the summer, please do. Also don't be scared about the fact it's sevens, we genuinely are a 'social' side and encourage drinking before and after games (during games in some cases).
